The Jennifer Moody Band (JMB), is five-piece adult contempory/rock band born from the continuing request of fans for more of Jen.
For a number of years Jennifer has been preforming at various events when asked, (and sometimes when not), her newest creations in song and those fan favorites. Whether it be at a party, a special occasion, or just around "The Rock" in Springville, (before the authorities put up blockades to keep the local kids from hanging out there).
When faced with the request to perform at Springfest, an outdoor music festival in Springville, AL in July of 2008 , Jennifer jumped at the chance. Her dad, Martin, played drums with her on stage to add that little extra rhythm to her already beat-friendly tunes. On that hot July afternoon, Dave (bass), and Matt (rhythm guitar), had heard that Jennifer was performing and were in the crowd to "check out," this Jennifer Nicole Moody chick. As it has turned out they were the first to greet her upon the exit ramp from the stage, and the "JMB" began.
Dave Evans is a long-time bass player in the Birmingham area with such bands as Over the Ocean, Undercover, Theatrix and Custer's Last Band. He has done occasional solo gigs and other performances with players like Jeff Galey, Wes Carroll and Ken Heron. Dave's expertise on bass brings a whole new dimension to the band, and has added that solid foundation of thump.
Matt (i just want to be a rock star) Gravitt, on rhythm guitar just keeps the party going, filling in when Jen forgets the next cord (she does have a lot on her mind...right, ha!) anyway... Matt comes from a long linage of musicians and just can't seem to be able to put the guitar down. His enthusiasm is so infectious.
The newest member to JMB would be Jake Hanbury. Hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, and now residing in Anniston, AL. Jake on lead guitar brings riffs from years beyond his age to life. Long sought, and greatly appreciated by JMB, Jakes filling the gaps with beautiful lines of pure power.
Last and least; is that old man banging on those cheap toy drums, sounding like a bunch of cats running through a collections of garbage cans. But, he pays a lot of the bills, so' we're going to have to let him hang around till we can figure out how to gracefully, ah', hmm..., ok, can someone please tell us how we can gracefully fire the father of the band's leader???, please...
We hope you get a chance to catch the JMB at one of our up coming shows, and would love to hear from you.
also, if you get a chance, check out the latest recording by Jennifer "Rough Cuts", an acoustic cd of a
few new and old tunes of her's. available online Now.
